Due Diligence

We support the evaluation of both technology and businesses during funding, mergers and acquisitions, sometimes as part of a team from Arthur D Little, McKinsey or other consultancies, banks, venture capitalists or investors.

Development delays required further investment

A high-tech start-up developing a promising new industrial ink jet application had for various reasons taken longer than planned and had run out of money

Within a short timeframe, on behalf of the lead investor we assessed the company’s technology, development plans and potential markets, identified the key issues that needed addressing and suggested some solutions, and identified the risks of success.  The company got a further round of funding.

Viability of a new ink jet technology

At the demonstration level, the board of a university wished to understand the potential for a novel ink jet technology

Based on an old idea but with a modern twist, the inventors had identified a number of potentially new applications for their technology.  We carried out some market investigations and showed that while there was interest in their application, it was at a research level.  However we identified some closer to market applications and they have now successfully spun off as a company.

Support for a research grant application

A start-up was applying for a research grant, but needed a quick reference for his application

We were able to provide a brief overview of ink jet, his application and potential markets, the IPR position and risks associated with the development to support his funding application, which he received.
